Eyeshadow Swatches: Colourpop Fem Rosa ‘SHE’ Pressed Powder Palette

With this Karreuche Tran x Colourpop collab, (mostly) everything is coming up roses.

The Colourpop Fem Rosa ‘SHE’ Pressed Powder Palette, which is part of the Karreuche Tran x Colourpop collab, has been a hot commodity ever since its launch on July 13.  Retailing for $16.00 for .36 oz (or 10.2g) of product (according to the back of the palette), it’s currently sold on Colourpop’s website – I’m not sure if this will restock, but Colourpop usually announces restocks on its Instagram and Twitter, so make sure you check there for updates! From my experience, the company usually restocks products at 10AM PST, which translates to 1PM for all us ~east coast~ folks.

I’m a sucker for anything with roses, so when I saw the packaging on this palette, I was immediately drawn in.  This is probably the most aesthetically pleasing palette I own, which I noted in my Instagram below:

This palette comes with 12 eyeshadows total – the exact breakdown is 7 metallics, 4 mattes, and 1 satin.

I’ve tried Colourpop’s pressed powder shadows once before in the form of the Nectar collection, and I remember being pleasantly surprised with how creamy and pigmented the matte formula was.  Most of the mattes in the SHE palette also didn’t disappoint – in fact, I think they surprisingly performed a little better than some of the metallics, which usually isn’t the case, but I’ll get into that in more detail in a few.

From left to right, the shades are: Ladylike, Babe, Dainty, Chick, Mademoiselle, Gal, Empress, Filly, Dear, Missy, Damsel, and Duchess.

Now let’s get into the individual shadows!

1.) Ladylike

  • Finish: Metallic → I’d say it’s more of a satin finish even though it’s listed as a metallic
  • Colourpop Color Description: “Soft ivory”
  • Opacity: This shadow is kind of sheer, but even on one swipe
  • Texture: Very creamy!

2.) Babe

  • Finish: Satin
  • Colourpop Color Description: “Light peachy pink”
  • Opacity: This has the same opacity as Ladylike, but it’s still pretty even on one swipe
  • Texture: Creamy

3.) Dainty

  • Finish: Metallic
  • Colourpop Color Description: “Pinky taupe”
  • Opacity: This has pretty good pigmentation on one swipe
  • Texture: Creamy

4.) Chick

  • Finish: Metallic
  • Colourpop Color Description: “Subtle gold” → this color almost has a subtle pink reflect
  • Opacity: Somewhat sheer – similar to Ladylike and Babe
  • Texture: Creamy

5.) Mademoiselle

  • Finish: Metallic
  • Colourpop Color Description: “Rose gold” → not sure if I would classify this as rose gold; to me it seems like more of a magenta gold
  • Opacity: Very opaque on one swipe
  • Texture: This shadow is decently creamy, but tends to “ball up” if too much product is taken at once.  I think the trick with this shade is to use thinner layers to make it easier to work with.

6.) Gal

  • Finish: Metallic → not sure if I’d classify this as a metallic as much as I’d classify this as a strange pressed glitter-type deal
  • Colourpop Color Description: “Red with copper duochrome” → I’d say this is definitely a reddish copper, but I wasn’t really picking up the duochrome when I swatched it or used it
  • Opacity: Somewhat sheer; a little patchy on one swipe
  • Texture: This shadow is creamy, but tends to crumble up, similar to Mademoiselle, but worse.  It’s almost as if the glitter in this is disintegrating.  Again, I’d say the trick is to use this in smaller amounts and pat it on rather than swipe.

7.) Empress

  • Finish: Metallic
  • Colourpop Color Description: “Mid-tone plum pink”
  • Opacity: Medium opacity on one swipe
  • Texture: Creamy, but slightly crumbles – I think this shadow performs a lot better than Mademoiselle and Gal though.

8.) Filly

  • Finish: Metallic → I think this looks more like a semi-matte satin than a metallic tbh
  • Colourpop Color Description: “Rusty orange” → the swatch was NOT was I was expecting when I looked at the shade in the pan!
  • Opacity: Pretty sheer on one swipe – I think this has the potential to be buildable though since it’s at least even
  • Texture: Somewhat firmer and dryer than the others, but I wouldn’t classify this as “chalky” in any way.

9.) Dear

  • Finish: Matte
  • Colourpop Color Description: “Warm rose” → I looove this color.  I think it’s my favorite matte of the bunch!
  • Opacity: Very opaque and even on one swipe
  • Texture: Super creamy

10.) Missy

  • Finish: Matte
  • Colourpop Color Description: “Deep burgundy”
  • Opacity: Almost fully opaque on one swipe
  • Texture: A little dryer than Dear, but still not chalky or hard

11.) Damsel

  • Finish: Matte
  • Colourpop Color Description: “Smokey violet”
  • Opacity: Somewhat sheer on one swipe; pretty patchy → I’d say this is my least favorite shadow out of the mattes
  • Texture: A little dryer than Missy, but again still not chalky or hard

12.) Duchess

  • Finish: Matte
  • Colourpop Color Description: “Dusty coral”
  • Opacity: Opaque and even on one swipe!
  • Texture: Super creamy → I’d say this is Dear’s fraternal peach twin!

OVERALL:    My favorite shadows are probably Duchess, Dear, and Mademoiselle, and Dainty.  Filly was kind of a wild card because it’s ~deceptive~ in the pan, but I think it has some potential.  I’d say a definite miss for me is Damsel because it just doesn’t perform as well as the others, and Gal is also just a bit too crumbly for my liking.

@Gal be better

Normally, Colourpop pressed shadow singles contain .04 oz and retail for $5.  The shadows in the SHE palette are slightly smaller (.03 oz), but retail for $1.33 each ($16 total divided by 12 eyeshadows).  In my ~humble~ opinion, this is a steal, since I most likely wouldn’t go through the shadows anyway.

Another random side note… this palette kind of smells like new shoes? It’s not strong or anything – I was actually curious to see if it had any kind of scent, so I brought it up to my nose and sniffed, and viola, new shoes! I’m assuming it’s just the cardboard packaging, but it hasn’t been irritating to my eyes or anything.  Again, this is something you wouldn’t pick up just by opening the palette and you’d have to actively look for it, but just thought I’d note that if anybody is particularly sensitive!

One thing I do wish existed in this palette is some kind of matte mid-toned brown because I always like to throw that kind of shade in the crease, but beggars can’t be choosers!

    • I’ve heard that they actually brought their international shipping down a bit, but it still takes forever to get there! Luckily I live in the US so it’s pretty easy to get my hands on Colourpop things (as long as they’re not sold out!)
