So I definitely have a type.  And I’m not talking about in men – although I definitely do have a type there, too.  I’m talking about a beauty type, or a Beauty MO, aka I have a habit of buying the same things.

I was looking through my beauty collection and realized that when it comes to lipstick, eyeshadow, and even scents, I tend to gravitate toward specific colors and finishes.  Today’s I’m going to be talking about my addiction to things that smell like rose.

Although I’m not a certain Champion of Love and Justice, I seem to be weak when it comes to roses.  Red roses are my favorite flower (cliché, I know), but it wasn’t until I looked at my vanity that I realized I basically go out of my way to purchase rose-scented things.  I know a lot of people have an aversion to rose scents because they can smell like ~old lady~, but I happen to think rose-scented things smell classy.  And I’m classy.  At least that’s what I keep telling myself.

Here’s a few things I have that contain a rose scent:

1. Thayers Witch Hazel Toner – Rose Petal | LINK
DSC00595Although this toner comes in a butt-ton (idk what this unit of measurement is) of scents (i.e. peach, lemon, lavendar, cucumber), surprise, surprise, I have the rose petal scent!  This also made a cameo in my DIY Makeup Brush Spot Cleaning Spray if you want to check that out!

I use this every night as (shockingly) a toner right after washing my face.  I love witch hazel to tone and this one is alcohol-free so it doesn’t dry out my skin.  This is actually my umpteenth bottle – every time I go to repurchase, I always tell myself I should try a different scent, yet somehow I always end up with the rose petal one.  Go figure.

Also: I just realized that “butt-ton” is basically “button,” and now I’m laughing.  I’m not going to change it though.  I’m dragging you all down with me.

2. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater | LINK

This was actually my most recent purchase and, in my defense, it has things other than rosewater, such as aloe and herbs.  This definitely does smell predominately of rosewater though.  Oh well.

I’m not really into the whole facial mist thing, but I decided to give this a try.  I really like spraying this on my face right after a shower because it’s super refreshing, and I like dampening my Real Techniques sponge with it before using.

3. Le Blanc Eau de Parfum – Rose | LINK
DSC00597…I’m also not a perfume person.  I’m realizing now that I’m a not-of-a-lot-of-things person, but I’m definitely a rose person, and me being a rose person seemed to trump (or drumpf) me not being a perfume person in this case.

I actually got this in Disney when I was there this summer.  The France pavilion in EPCOT has a pretty bomb shopping section (they have a Givenchy and Guerlain store!), and I just loved the smell of this.  The reason why I’m not a perfume person is because I have a pretty sensitive nose and a lot of perfumes end up either making me sneeze, giving me a headache, or both, but this doesn’t do that!

Another thing I like about this perfume is how fresh it smells, if that makes any sense.  Unlike a lot of rose-scented perfumes, this doesn’t have that weird “powdery” smell and actually smells like a rose.  It’s light and makes me feeling like I’m tiptoeing through the tulips (or roses, in this case).

4. Smith’s Rosebud Salve Balm | LINK
DSC00598It seemed like everybody and their mother’s dog has the Rosebud Salve Balm in tin-form, but I’m not a tin balm person.

Me @me: you really need to branch out more

When I found out that this comes in tube-form, I was super excited to try it.  I like to use this at night right before bed and in the morning when I wake up.  This seems a little too heavy to use under a liquid lipstick, so I tend to avoid this if I know I’m about to be putting on lipstick.  My favorite balm to put on before liquid lipstick is actually the Burt’s Bees Pomegranate Lip Balm, but I still blot some of it off with a tissue before applying my lipstick.

And there you have it – I can’t help that I love rose so much, there’s just something about it that gets me.  I might go through my collection and find other Beauty MOs to share with you all.  Until then, what are your Beauty MOs?
