In honor of National Lipstick Day, here are my top 3 favorite lipsticks for this summer! Don’t worry – 2 out of the 3 are drugstore!
Happy National Lipstick day everybody!
In honor of today’s holiday, here are my three favorite lipsticks for the summer:
1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick – “Spicy” ($20) | Link
You’ve probably seen this mentioned a few times (i.e. in this travel makeup post, this wear test, and in this Instagram). I might be a lipstick repeater, but that’s only because I love this lipstick so much.
I’m a sucker for orangey reds, so this lipstick definitely fits the bill. I like how bright it is and it’s super long-wearing!
2. Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip – “Cozy” ($6) | Link
Ok… I know what you’re thinking. This looks remarkably similar to Spicy, but I swear, they’re different!
Spicy is obviously more orange and Cozy is more of a true red, but their formulas are extremely different, and that’s enough for me. I have a type, ok? It’s fine.
My all-time favorite red lipstick is actually Colourpop’s Ultra Matte Lip in Succulent, but cozy is almost exactly the same kind of red orange – it’s just a touch less neon. I actually like neon because if I’m going to wear bright lipstick I might as well go all out, but the reason I picked Cozy over Succulent is because I prefer the Satin formula to the Matte formula.
For some reason, I find Succulent to be more drying than their other Ultra Mattes, and it’s almost a little bit chalky if layered too much. It’s not unmanageable, and I personally am not too affected by it, but I know there are tons of people that can’t stand overly-drying liquid lipstick formulas. Still, Cozy is a lot easier to wear considering I tend to go through a “routine” when wearing Succulent and make sure to moisturize beforehand and the like, whereas I can just pop Cozy on and call it a day.
Do I still love Succulent? Absolutely. It’s okay to love both. That’s what I keep telling myself. I am a neutral country. I am Switzerland. #TeamSwitzerland
3. BH Cosmetics Long-Wearing Matte Liquid Lipstick – “Endora” ($8.50) | Link
I recently did a first impressions on this liquid lipstick brand, as well as a wear test on this particular shade, which is when I realized how much I liked the formula and the color of Endora.
Other than make me feel like some kind of ~pastel princess~ or an aging witch, this color is super flattering and stays put. It doesn’t transfer, it’s not super drying, and it feels very light on the lips, which are three very good things in a lipstick, in my opinion. It’s also the shade I’m wearing today!
Hope everybody is having a great holiday! What lipstick is everybody wearing today?
