In which I decided to test out this Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Spicy to see how long it would wear – Disney-style!
Today’s LOC (lipstick of choice) is Anastasia Beverly Hills’ liquid lipstick in the shade “Spicy” – this is a great red orange color that leans more orange than red. I’ve read this color a few times before, but I’ve never paid attention to how well it wears.
Today we had FastPasses in Magic Kingdom at the Dwarfs Mine Train, Big Thunder Mountain, and Space Mountain. I was curious to see how well this lipstick would hold out against the heat and how drying it might be. (Sidenote: if anybody is interested in some Disney tips, take a look at the blog post I’ve written here!)
I started at 9:40AM, as you will note in the picture above with a little help from Snapchat. The lipstick looks pretty good, considering I just applied it. I made sure to moisturize with some Chapstick a few minutes before application and wiped it off just before putting the liquid lipstick on.
After some milling about in the hotel, we were off! A short bus ride later, I was in Magic Kingdom. Getting through security and into the park was hectic (as usual), but all in all, things were going pretty smoothly. I managed to take some obligatory castle pics after fighting off other people, and we headed straight to Fantasyland.
I’d like to take a moment to thank God for FastPasses. It was super hot and standing in direct sunlight for the short while we were queuing outside for the Mine Train ride wasn’t the most magical part of my day, but the run was fun (albeit a little short).
The next thing we did there was something I do best: eat. I had a Greek salad at Cosmic Ray’s in Tomorrowland, and the lipstick held up surprisingly well – didn’t even bleed around the edges! Shout out to the hot weather – I can always count on my sweat to sub in for my Too Faced Candelight highlighter.
After that, we headed off to catch up with our American Family at the Carousel of Progress since we had some time to kill before our next FastPass. (Protip: This is a great place to cool off and the seats are super comfy – you may have the song stuck in your head for the rest of the day, but the AC is worth it!!)
Next, it was back into the heat and off to Big Thunder Mountain. It was much hotter at this point, but my lipstick was putting up a great fight. Lbr: I just got my upper lip waxed, so with nothing to catch the sweat, my lipstick had a big storm coming (TMI?? Oh well). Luckily, it seemed ready for battle.
Next stop was Space Mountain. At this point, I was an expert at the Pokemon-Weave-And-Go through the crowds. I was up to my ears in Psyducks in Magic Kingdom, but it was a nice change from all the Weedles that like to congregate around my house to make their Dark Sacrifices in NJ.
After Space Mountain, I was hungry, as I usually am. It was now time for the ultimate lipstick test: a classic Mickey Bar!
There are very few things I do with grace, and eating is definitely not one of them. After devouring my ice cream, I took a look at my lipstick (disregard the chocolate on my mouth, or don’t, your call). It looked pretty good considering I basically smeared this ice cream all over the lower half of my face, with the exception of some bleeding on the upper corner and some wearing off in the middle (which always happens to me). After cleaning up the corners a little bit with a napkin, I decided not to touch up, and went on my merry way.
By the time we got back to the hotel, it was just after 3:00. I wore the lipstick to the pool, but forgot to do a final check in (too much Pokemon on the brain). I can say that the lipstick looked basically the same as it did in the picture above.
After the pool I showered like a good member of society, so I took all my makeup off. Overall, I was pretty impressed with the wear of this lipstick. Not only did it stand up to my salad, upper lip sweat, and the ice cream, but it also held up like a champ through all of the water bottles I ran through in the day. This lipstick didn’t let me down (unlike that 200CP Eevee that got away from me), so I’ll probably look into trying more Anastasia lipsticks soon…
